This is from the June 26 1956 Ceremony in Hyde Park London of ER II of the presentation it would seem of every living recipient of the Victoria Cross in commemoration of the 100th Anniversary of the Award.

Here's the real old timers at the event, the earliest from what I could see going back to the Bar War and maybe one of the many operations in India in the 1890s.

Here's an interesting one, ER II bestowing the Victoria Cross on Warrant Officer II Class Keith Payne for combat in Vietnam, this taking place aboard the Royal Yacht Britannia in Brisbane Harbor  April 13 1970.  What's interesting is whether ER II specifically sailed to Australia to award the medal, or just happened to be around the region in the yacht and was contacted about the award to come.

The then Princess Elizabeth talks with one Pte Rupert Worth in February 1946 in Bedford.  Rupert, of the 5th Battalion Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire Regiment is back home recovering from being a Japanese POW. The 5th Bedfs and  Herts being in the 55th Infantry Brigade 18th (East Anglian) Infantry Division in Singapore and went into the Sack  with the surrender of Singapore in February 42. Rupert we see with crutches, unknown if he was wounded way back in 42 and never got better because of poor treatment, or was injured  or contracted a disease or whatnot while a POW, and never got better do to the same, poor treatment.

Another Ceremony for VC for Vietnam, this time Ray Simpson, this at  the Government House in Sydney, on 1 May 1970.

The then Princess inspects RAF Cadets at the college at RAF Cranwell in 1951.

Here we see an array of armed forces units and  non military as it were and such, like the Archers, Beef Eaters etc etc, we imagine the Navy pulls the caisson, because they are the senior service right. curious though what the rear group of Bluejackets are doing, counter pulling the caisson to keep the pace???

 

The Highland song very haunting, this by the mass grouping of an array of bands from the Armed Forces, ie the RAF, the Gurhkas etc.

On Board HMS Vanguard, with the Ship's Company., Vanguard, the very last Battleship to be built in the history of the world. Sea ready way too late for combat operations in WWII. She is with the entire family on a trip to South Africa in 1947. In 1953 she participated in the new Queen, Elizabeth II's Coronation Review.

First in Northern Waters still, then later into Sunny Climes. In the warm weather one, note the two Royal Marines off in the background at attention, I wonder why they're like that, their escort around the ship???
