January 19, 20233 yr #1 Gents, Here are a couple of examples of the Bavarian Pallasch. Below is an example of an "Offizier-Pallasch mit glatter Montur" as shown in the WKC edged weapons catalog. This particular example was made by Eickhorn and has the back-to-back squirrels logo. It has a plain nickel plated hilt without ornamentation. The grip is black celluloid and the scabbard is blackened steel with a single movable suspension ring. The blade is straight with two narrow fullers on each side. It is nickel plated and has the Bavarian motto etched on the blade. These swords were made for mounted officers. Shown below is an example of an "Offizier-Pallasch mit feinzisellerter-Montur" their Nr.153 shown in the WKC edged weapons catalog. This example was made by WKC and has the knight head logo on the ricasso. It has an extensively chiseled hilt and is heavily silver plated. The grip is black celluloid and the scabbard is blackened steel with a single movable suspension ring. The blade is straight with two narrow fullers on each side. It is nickel plated and has the Bavarian motto etched on the blade. This sword belonged to an officer in the 17th Ritter Regiment whose initials are engraved on the pommel.
