Here for your perusal is my S&W British contract Triple lock revolver serial number 4367 still in original .455 Eley chambering. Got the S&W Letter in just 3 weeks showing this pistol was shipped from the S&W factory to Remington-UMC NY purchasing agents for the British Government on January 7, 1915.

Here are details of serial number and British Military Proof mark on rear of cylinder and British Military Inspection Mark on top of frame.
