Hi,

I'd like to know if the shield is ww2 repro or not. The liner is REM III 1952.

Thanks

I think the date on the line is 1942, not 1952.

Its strange as I clearly see the 5 in what looks to be the same stamped format and then I see a 4 which appears in a bit of a different stamped format??? 8th Army was certainly in Italy where the OP is from, but not sure I like this helmet.

I would say something not right here, it looks like both liner and shell have been over-stamped with 42. I would be very nervous about buying this as an 8th Army helmet.

Unfortunately doctored MkII helmet are becoming more common.

I wish the sellers photos were better of this helmet. I have two Jordanian helmets that have a similar cammo and also dated 1952  - I collect Middle East helmets - it would be a long shot but it could be a reused 8th Army that has had the flash uncovered, leap of faith required there though.

There is definitely an element of deception around the 42, the paint on the liner band is also there to mask the re-stamp in my opinion, and it can't be a coincidence that it's the same color over the flash.
