April 25, 20233 yr #1 Hello from New Zealand I am contacting you with a rather bizarre request. My father and I have just returned from our local ANZAC Day dawn service and we were discussing my great grandfather and his service to New Zealand. He served in both the Boer War and WWI. I was wondering what happened to his medals. Late in life, he fathered a son (I believe he was in his mid 60s at the time) and I remarked that Francis (the son) should have his medals. He's likely the only person in the world still living whose father served in the Boer War. My father then told me that my American based uncle had the medals and sold them some years ago, I believe in California. I was hoping that you could advise the best way to locate them, or if you could help me put a request out to collectors to see if I can locate them and return them to Francis, he has very few things that were his father's, and having these medals returned would mean the world to our family. The service numbers would be as follows: 3789 Francis Raper Boer War 13854 Francis Raper WWI I believe that they would have been sold in California and the seller would have been George Akina. Francis is now in his 70s, and I would love to return the medals to him as I believe he is the rightful owner and they should never have been sold. Is there any network that you could direct me to that may be able to assist? Any help you could give me would be so appreciated. Kind regards Julie Kitchen
