May 4, 20233 yr #1 Gents, Just wanted to show the three flags from a friend of mine who was in Vietnam 1968 - 1969. The first one I think is from the 812th NVA Regiment. I have a report from 1968 concerning the infiltration of the 812th Regiment. The second one is a pendant that was on maybe a bamboo pole. The third one I really don't have a clue. It looks like a communist banner/flag. Let me know what you guys think. As always thanks for your help.
May 4, 20233 yr #2 I like the 2 silk ones (the one flag is Vietnamese Communist Party) but not so sure about that Thang. Its my understanding that the North Vietnamese did not embroider stars or use western numbers.
May 4, 20233 yr #3 The 812 Quyet Thang is a newly made reproduction. These embroidered stars did not exist on Wartime flags. Early flags were two sided stars, then the used the "Cut Out" style, cutting out the center star, then sewing in a one sided star with double stitching. The star was on one side, but showed thru on the reverse side. A lot easier to do than lining up and stitching a star on both sides.
