Its use in general payment transactions is prohibited. REVERSE: Clearing slip/invoice for the German armed forces As part of the payment regulations for the armed forces in non-german countries, it is only given to members of the armed forces and those of equal status and is only exchanged from this group of people by all cash registers and payment offices of the armed forces, National Credit Union and exchange offices, also in the nation (Germany) by the German National Bank and other German financial insitutions. Think of it as a "personal cheque" from the armed forces. The first two issues clearly state that these certificates are temporary payments for use within the armed forces only, such as a "commissary" or a "PX". However, the third issue has a provision that allows these notes to be exchanged by authorized personnel only, at financial instititions within Germany, for regular German currency. This issue also states that finance sections of the German armed forces located anywhere are permitted to exchange these notes.
June 6Jun 6 Author #3 Addendum: "A directive to allied troops in 1945 read 'US forces and other Allied forces will use Allied Military marks and Reichsmark currency or coins in their possession. AM marks and Reichsmak currency and coin now in circulation will be legal tender without distinction and be interchangeable at the rate of one AM mark for one Reichsmark.
