Luftwaffe M18 Helmets

Found this great photo, date and location unknown, but probably from around 1935-36, the whole unit wearing the M18 Helmets, looks like a Flak unit.

Hi patches.

This is definitely an early photograph. The 'Flieger Bluse' is, I believe, the M35 which didn't have an eagle on the left breast. The map case is also an M35. Both these items were superseded before, or around, 1940.

One question I have  which you maybe able to answer. The piping on the collar and shoulder board appears silver / white. As the collar tabs appear red, and as such identify the unit as Flak, should the piping also be red?

Regards

Gunner, that Piping isn't Piping, it's  Tresse, you'll note that all these men in the foreground are NCOs. The Piping on the collars edges  appeared on the Four Pocket Tunics in any event, officially at least, seen some Fliegerblusen, that has Branch Piping, but perhaps these are private purchase ones, or man had it modified by have said Piping applied.

The Musikmeister of Musikkorps Des Regiments General Göring  is wearing an M18 helmet Berlin 1937, believe he will be Stabsmusikmeister Paul Haase.

Believe these troops are from the Luftwaffe Wachbattalion in Berlin, here we see a mix of the standard M18 and the Cut Outs.

Träger des Schellenbaum is wearing an M18, the rest maybe too, can not see to really tell. An unidentified Luftwaffe Band and unit, though it could very well be Regiment  General Göring , but it is in 1936 in Berlin at the Olympics.

Future General Theodor Osterkamp, Pour le Mérite holder of the Great War wearing the M18 Luftwaffe painted helmet. Osterkamp here a Major in 1936 at some parade or something (Note all the Flowers shoved in his belt), was actually in the Navy in the Great War, Marinefliegerkorps, and joined the new Air force since it was clear the Navy would not re-raise it's Aviation Arm.
