June 17, 20233 yr #1 This must be sometime in 1943, he's wearing the Army's Jacket, as well as the Army's Cap, the Army Eagle is still sewn on see, and he has appied a SS Scull on it, maybe removing the sewn on Cockade beforehand
June 17, 20233 yr #2 Hi patches. There are a number of possibilities as to the identity of this man. By process of elimination I believe it is either Heinrich Warnick, Panzerkommandant SS-Pz.Rgt 2 or Franz Staudegger Panzerkommandant SS-Pz-Rgt 1. Going on other images of Staudegger I think the soldier is Warnick but that is an opinion. and could be wrong. . The book that features this photograph, and both as possibilities, is 'Waffen SS Tiger Crews at Kursk' which would indicate you are correct with 1943. https://www.thefifthfield.com/published-books/waffen-ss-tiger-crews-at-kursk/
June 18, 20233 yr Author #3 Thanks for the info. Heinrich Warnick, as he is in Das Reich, the other one, Staudegger, was in the Leibstandarte SS AH.
