I was cleaning out some boxes full of old papers and memorabilia and came across this patch.

I've had it since the 1980's. I can't remember how or where I got it from.

It's about 4cm X 6cm.

Black, white and red were the colors of the Reichsflagge. The colors were used by different student fraternities as well. The silver braid can be found with many German patches. May I ask why you think it´s Italian?

The colors are green, white & red.
