August 13, 20232 yr #1 Wasn't exactly sure where to post this?. Many, many years ago, my grandfather gave to me a WW1 German helmet from when he was in the war. Unfortunately, I never asked him while he was living, what the story was behind it. So I'm at a point now in my life I need to do something with it, but not exactly sure what I have? It's painted camouflage and has the leather lining in it although the one leather flaps holes tore. The cord is still in tact. There's no chin strap. I did find what looks like the markings of K04 on the left side of the helmet beside the chin strap holder. Any information will be greatly appreciated. Accepting offers for this piece. Thank you. August 14, 20232 yr #2 Nice helmet! Do you think we could get some better pics of the camo top side and close ups of chips and other details?
August 14, 20232 yr Author #6 From what I remember and have found out. My grandfather spent time in Belgium during WW1. I submitted a RFI and received very little information. Looks like he enlisted on July 3, 1917 and was honorably discharged on April 17, 1919. He was with Headquarters Co. 112th Sp.Tn. He was a corporal. And earned $89.25.
