Trying to identify this cap device. Closest I find is Malaysia. Cant lock it down though. Thanks in advance.

You are correct in that it a Royal Malaysian Army Cap Badge.

Definitely Malaysian. Here are Malaysian Lt. Colonel insignia. Their rank symbols are Very similar to British tradition. The pips are 1 for 2nd Lt, 2 for 1st Lt, 3 for Captain. One crown for Major, One crown and 1 Pip for Lt. Col and 1 Crown and two pips for full Colonel. Your badge is probably an officers beret or cap badge IIRC.

Here is a cloth Malaysian patch with similar symbols. I don't recall what unit this is from.
