Now what is this Helmet this Panzer Mark III Panzer Commander wearing, it isn't a Fallschrim helmet, photo taken in the USSR 1942, I'm stumped.

Maybe a cut down stalhelm of some type? M35? M40? M42? Or the something other, I would think it is that as the edge looks cut down and not rolled, and by this point in the war they would have just introduced unrolled edges which this is clearly not an issued item. I think it is cut down as the edge looks worn and the paint is chipped or worn off there. It was probably cut down to accommodate the headphones, or maybe it even an M34 police helmet, quite an interesting photo, that is just my guess, good luck with finding any more clues as to what this mystery helmet is!

Just seen what this is, it is a cut down regular m35 or M40 experimental tank crew helmet.
