October 26, 20232 yr #1 Hi i found this photo of one of my family members and would like to know more about it. And also need help with translating the handwritten note on the back of it. Any help would be great.
October 27, 20232 yr #2 It's Pre WWI for sure, we see a Dusseldorf Studio, perhaps he was in the 39th (Lower Rhenish) Fusiliers??? Niederrheinisches Füsilier-Regiment Nr. 39 was Garrisoned in Dusseldorf. The medal, perhaps this one, Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Medal or as it also called Centenary Medal??? This medal was given out to all members of the German Army and Navy to include those troops serving in the African Colonies, these last may have only been White Troops and not the Blacks, not sure, in any event if it is this medal, this medal then was given regardless of Rank in 1897. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Centenary_Medal_(Prussia)
