Spotted this interesting one, your what looks like a Camouflage Fallschirmjäger Helmet Cover shoved on a M35-40 or M42 helmet. Cover seems to fit alright right! would of thought these would be incompatible with the standard helmet right.

Here's the flip side of the record, a Standard Splinter Helmet Cover placed on a Fallschrim Helmet, this in The Netherlands during Operation Market Garden September 44, unit, the Ad Hoc Fallschirm Division Erdmann  under General Major Wolfgang Erdmann. He is an Officer, and by the looks of it by virtue of his Gulls and Bars Sleeve Rank, an Oberstleutnant.
