I've got the opportunity to purchase this patch but am unsure whether or not it is the real deal.  Anyone have a take?

It is very "clunky" looking for a Vietnamese made patch.

 

Not saying it isn't right but not what one would expect for a VNAF patch

I don't know if it is original but I picked up a grouping of patches of what I believe are original SVN Air Force insignia at the flea market (see poto 1 & 2) many years ago.  This might help you make your decision about the piece you looking at by comparing the different stitching and construction of these patches.  I was able to find photos of a pinted hanger version of the patch you are looking at.
