Does anyone recognize this patch?

 

It came out of a WWII Correspondents grouping who covered Nationalists Chinese news until the fall in 1949.

 

He was also attached to the OSS at one time.

I have not seen this patch anywhere, but I believe it is North-East Combat Command that was headquartered in Mukden/Shenyang. The land behind the flag matches Northeast China/Manchuria.

 

It was a regional military command under a nationalist general and subordinate to Nanjing. As such, it was a major point of contact for anyone seeking information on the situation in Manchuria as things deteriorated in the late 40s. So a correspondent having contact with them would not be surprising.
