I'm counting on you all with your expertise. I found this at an estate sale over the weekend. No scabbard, no broad arrow, very rusty and the tip is broken but for 5 dollars I could not leave it. It is marked William Rodgers Sheffield England. It has a brass pommel nut and the handle looks like some sort of cast alloy. If original is it a 3rd pattern? No other markings on it.

I think it’s a real 3rd pattern. I don’t see anything that makes it stand out as fake. I feel like there are a number of variations of this knife.

Thanks guys. I cleaned it up as well as I could so now I just need to find a scabbard for it. I'm sure there's someone who makes them online.

The only thing i found to do with the whole "sheffield " thing was this...

It always made me be wary of buying in the past, but who knows... Anyway any information is food for thought.

Second one here is wartime produced and marked England when it was imported into the United States after the war as part of the land lease reparations.  I believe the first one was produced post war although could still be an original military item.  I am no expert and there are many good sources of information on these online.
