Hello everyone. I'm starting my next project. I'm debating if I should make it a WIP topic or just post the finished pieces as I finish them. Well for now I will post these pics of what I'm doing. The kit is from Academy, and it was reviewed in FineScale Modeler magazine. It was given a good review, and I have to admit that the Academy motorcycle is more intricate than the Tamiya ones. I'm intending to add another motorcycle (Tamiya), but I'll need to scratchbuild two parts to complete it. That's what it's all about. Also, there should be plenty of figures too. Great to see that you have started a new modeling project, Manny! I would always vote for at least some WIP pictures, because I love to learn from other modeller´s work. Your "Krad" looks good so far!

I’d love to see your WIP. It’s always fascinating to see how you do things. And that goes for you other Wizards of Plastic around here. If it’s too much of a distraction from your work though, just throw us a bone now and then. Best of luck and happy modeling to you for sure.

Well, I'm going to take Lars and Mikie's advice. I finished the build of the motorcycle although it needs its decals and a little weathering and tweaking. I've begun the sidecar build and it will receive its paintjob soon. Enjoy the WIP pics and thanks for following my builds. BTW, Lars I'm looking forward to you finishing up a couple of projects that you have going.

Hello everyone. Thanks Lars, for the comment. I'm 90% finished with the motorcycle and sidecar. I weathered it lightly, along with the leather bags and seats and now I have to put on the decals, MG 34 and figures. Definitely, this motorcycle build is more intricate than the Tamiya ones, but everything goes together very well. I was pleasantly pleased. Enjoy the WIP pics and I'll keep them coming. The Pz. 1 will be getting started soon.

Hey Lars, thanks for the comment and Sarge; excellent picture. So, OK all I have to do is add the figure and cement the MG 34 in place. But now that the decals are on; its OFFICIALLY, finished. My wife loves the weathering of the side bags, or as she calls it the luggage. Now onto the Pz I ausf B. Enjoy the pics, and as always, all comments and critiques are greatly appreciated.

Hey Guys! First. thank you for the kind words in your comments. Second. Sorry I haven't posted anything in a while, since I was taking my time and waiting for some things to arrive, and I was enthralled with the MLB postseason. Unfortunately, my NY Mets lost to the Dodgers, but it was exciting to watch how far they progressed. But enough of that. As fun as the motorcycle was to build, the Pz. I was another story. Now I see why not too many modelers prefer to build it. The build is good except for the very fragile tracks. Unfortunately, Academy does not provide many extra track links, and although I try to be careful, there were too many; "Oh F**ks". I ordered AM links from QuickTracks, some resin tracks, only because I couldn't find any from Modelkasten. They went together pretty well, when you follow their Q scan videos, but were a pain to link together to form the completed tracks.  Well basically the Pz. I is done, except for the cable that I need to attach. BTW, I also ordered a kit from MiniArt, from the MegaHobby website just as I was thinking of scratchbuilding my idea in my head. As always, all comments and critiques are greatly appreciated.

Great to see that you are still working on this dio (I will return to my modeling projects as well soon). The Panzer I was a tiny tank, many sources say it was already outdatet at the beginning of WW II but I really like it´s interwar design and the many variants which existed.

 

You did a great job on the tank. It was built accurately and very well painted, very nice! One question please, the crosses (Balkenkreuze) look yellow on my screen. Were they overpainted like this by the crews for camo reasons, or are they just covered to protect the decals?

 

Thanks for your WIP photos. I´m looking forward to seeing the vehicle together with the base and checkpoint!

Hey guys, thank you for your kind comments. Lars, yes the Panzer balkenkreuz's look yellow because the original white crosses were considered prime targets for anti-tank gunners, so the panzer crews colored them yellow. I feel like I should have left them white. Later on they went to the balkenkreuz that we all recognize.

Manny, if you had made them white I never would have known about crews painting them yellow. I always enjoy learning something new.

Hello all. Sorry I haven't posted anything in a while. I've been working on all the figures at once at it takes a little time.

They are basically all painted and now they are getting their uniform insignias. Then I move on to the next phase of my diorama.

I look forward to posting pictures of the figures once they are finished. I did make an addition to the Pz I. I added the PE tank number placards.

Wow, Manny! This is really nice work. The detail and finish on those small vehicles is first rate. I've been away from this forum for quite a while but it's nice to come back and see quality modeling still happening here. Great work!

Hey Lars, Mikie and TMC, thank you for your kind words. I have some WIP pics of the figures. Now you must remember that these 12 figures are the older Tamiya plastic figures, so I did the best I could to make them look presentable. They need their armaments to be attached and the Pz. I crew needs their uniform add-ons, but they also need some tweaking. I feel like my lighting might be off. Well, like always all comments and critiques are greatly appreciated.

Yes Manny, I think we all know these 50 years old Tamiya figure sets very well. I also still have some of these sets sitting on the shelf. Your figure painting skills are outstanding and the deatil of the painted figures is amazing. Keep up your great work.

Without weapons, some of them look like they are doing some karate moves.
For fun you should give some of them electric guitars to hold 😁.

Hey Mikie, thanks for the comment, it made me laugh. Lars, like I said I did my best and I'll probably tweak them some more. I did finish with the figures that go in and on the vehicles. You know me, I will definitely tweak them also to blend them into the groundwork. As for the soldier figures, I will add their rifles and MP40's as I see fit. Here are some WIP pics and now I'll get started on the 'checkpoint'.
