February 24, 20251 yr #1 Over the years when I heard WWII, I immediately thought European theater. My father, moms (mom was a WAVE) 2nd husband, served in the Pacific. Most ppl I talk with would also want to discuss the war in Europe. I now focus on the Pacific war. A war which was as different from Europe as one could be.
February 25, 20251 yr #3 Welcome to the forum. My Dad was an infantryman from 1940-45 and served in the Pacific. So I too have a natural affinity to the Pacific theater. Europe has always gotten the lion’s share of attention. I’m always happy to see when the Pacific gets noticed. mikie
February 25, 20251 yr Author #4 I agree! Considering the atrocities associated with our enemy think they got off pretty easy. Have you read E.G. Sledg's book "With The Old Breed"? It gives a glimpse into the hell you father went thru. Dad was on the USS Hornet CV12 '43. Thank you. Looking forward to talking? Chatting? with you! Wanted to thank all of those welcoming me. Very fortunate to be on this site
