Is this hat an authentic Australian army hat since these are not my field. A first for me!

It appears to be a reproduction compared to an authentic military hat.

ok...no problem for my $5 buy...I figured something was off...most military hats are sturdy vs. lightweight.  I'll save the badge

Keep the hat chuck the badge. These hats where “over run” production and sold with a fantasy badge. 

You will need to “bash” the crown of your hat, Here’s a link to help it also shows how the badges are placed.
