September 11, 2025Sep 11 #1 Picked this up for $130 the other day. The helm definitely looks good to me but I’m not super good with the decals. The eagle looks like it could be good but the swastika looks a little too perfect? What do you guys think? Thanks in advance!
September 11, 2025Sep 11 #2 It could be good from the eagle side but as an M42 it shouldn’t have a tri color decal on the other. Can you take better pictures of the eagle and shield because your pictures are too blurry to make a conclusive decision.

September 18, 2025Sep 18 #5 I don't feel very comfortable with the eagle, the wearing or lack of in the swaz area, looks a bit odd and it looks a lot like this newer fake, but not exactly. I'll defer to one of the more experienced helmet guys though. Decals are such a minefield, almost as bad as the dang chinstraps.

I wound up returning it for a full refund and thankfully the seller was totally understanding. He doesn’t deal with German items so I don’t blame him for not knowing.
September 18, 2025Sep 18 Solution #8 Better safe than sorry and as Preppy Picker said, there shouldn't have been a tricolor decal on this later war M42. That alone with a questionable eagle, is enough imo to return it. I'm glad the seller was understanding and refunded you. Single decal LW helmets are pretty common so with patience, you should be able to land a nice, solid example : )
