A Grab from the 1968 Bob Hope Christmas Show, sees a New Zealand Soldier in attendance, I think Long Binh and is assigned  to some unit or detachment in the area Saigon. Long Binh,/Bien Hoa. I say this cause New Zealanders along with the Aussies are down south in Phước Tuy P, i.e. Vung Tau, Nui Dat etc, a region that Mr Hope and Company did not pay visit to.

 

What struck me is he's not wearing New Zealand's traditional  Lemon Point to his cap,  but in the Australian Manner.

I would say he’s  an Australian, Royal Australian Air Force. If he was a Kiwi he would have black shoulder tabs with white NewZealand printed on them, this guy has green tabs on his epaulettes. Lemon squeezer hats weren’t worn by NZ during the Vietnam War only Berets or Jungle hats(boonies).

This must be the cap then, the one here is a WWII one, but clearly the Cap Badge and Pugree is still was worn in the 1960s, the man at the Christmas Show didn't turn up the one side. Since he is RAAF, good chance this is at Bien Hoa, the location of that major  Free World Air Base.
