This is my Reichswehr parade bayonet manufactured by Carl Eichhorn. I am sure, you all are more knowledgeable than me, but from what I've read, this Eichhorn mark was only used for a short amount of time in the mid 1920s.

The pusher does work, but it is in an overall rough condition...

but I will let the pictures do the talking :))

I am planning on selling the bayonet to get some money for my main collecting field (which is the Vietnam War), but I will have to wait before I can post it in the FS section as posting there requires a number of previous posts on the forum as you all know

In case you don't know your KS98 bayonet is the short model made for NCOs.  

Thank you for your reply:)) I had considered that, but in German there is a term "Extraseitengewehr" which means, that the bayonet is an extra to the one used and to be worn for parades. Usually, they don't have the push button for mounting it, but sometimes they do. So I was never sure, which one it is...

Could you gibe me some insight as to why it is an NCO's?

These "Extraseitengewehr" were private purchase items of extra quality and not generally items of issue.  It is not uncommon that the press button in the pommel does not function as they do not ordinarily actually attach to the rifle.   Often the slot in the Pommel has a colored felt plug.   

 

These private purchase bayonets were marketed as short KS98 for NCOs and longer KS98 for EM.  Mostly a marketing strategy by Eickhorn and other makers.  Here is an example of an interesting Extraseitengewehr made as a modified S84/98 bayonet for an Enlisted Man.  This bayonet has an extended guard (like on your KS98), ribbed plastic grips, a flash guard, and a longer blade.  Notice the proper S84/98 frog and the Regimental Staff Portepee {Stabe I).

Thank you so much for clearing that up for me! Weren't these private purchase bayonets used for shooting prizes as well (sometimes edged)?

You are welcome.  Extraseitengewehr were often used as shooting prizes and sometimes had etched blades.  

 

I do need to correct what I said when I pointed out the grips.  They are not plastic but carved wood in the style of the later plastic grips.   

 

Here is another example of Imperial time period extra sidearms in the form of a S98 bayonet.  Notice the long wide blade that is etched on both sides.  This one will not fit on a rifle either.   It does have a false button in the pommel and a piece of red felt in the pommel slot.
