This was a Facebook marketplace find a mere 4 minutes from my house, originally found at an estate sale.  The case isn't looking too sexy now, but it's done it's job over the past 100+ years...

This clarinet was manufactured by the respected woodwind instrument maker F. G. Uebel (Friedrich Gustav Uebel) in Wohlhausen - Markneukirchen, Saxony, Germany. His son and grandson continued the business after his death.

Note the small "B" indicating it being a B-Flat, and each section has the same unit inventory number as well.

The 79th (3rd Hannover) Infantry "von Voigts-Rhetz" was an Imperial German Army regiment that was active from 3 January 1838 to 1919, with its headquarters at Hildesheim. It was practically destroyed in the German Spring Offensive of March / April 1918.

The soldiers of the 3rd Hannoverian Infantry Regiment No.79 'von Voigts-Rhetz', wore the cuff title 'Gibraltar', in the tradition of the three Hannoverian infantry battalions guarding the crown colony in the service of the Hannoverian Elector and King of England, George III from 1779–1783.

Been on the hunt for an ID'd US clarinet or other reed instrument for a while, love USMC band member item, but never seen a german or foreign one of that matter. Military musical related things have a special place in my heart as I have been a reed player for a number of years and play for local pit orchestras. Awesome piece and thanks for sharing!
