Wing Commander Farnes DFM of 501 Squadron flew Hurricanes in the Battle of Britain after flying in the Battle of France.  He was credited with six victories.

See the link for a BBC interview of Farnes on his career.

Farnes retired from the RAF in 1958.   There are believed to be only two other surviving BoB pilots.  The Few are now fewer.

Farnes lived a long and happy life and was, quite obviously, a remarkable man.

He is back flying in the sky, good travels.I having grown up when the WW2  gentlemen and a few ladies  vets were in their 40's , always eager to hear their stories of their service,I developed some friendships and it fostered my passion for that period of history and I am thankful to them for that!
