doyler Posted November 5, 2018 #1 Posted November 5, 2018 This was found in a house clean out a couple years ago. One of the guys hired to clean out the house said he and a friend were hired to clean out a house so it could be sold. There were 5 levels basement to attic.THe place had been in the same family for 100 years. They were told anything left in the house they could have to sell for payment for the work they did. I had been told the WW2 stuff came from a family member that was an officer in the Navy. They found both german and japanese items.I wasnt able to see an of the other stuff as they had already sold it...the Luger,35 swords or knives they said and other items.I managed to get a couple other items.
doyler Posted November 5, 2018 Author #2 Posted November 5, 2018 THe German name is both painted and etched into the skirt of the helmet
warguy Posted November 5, 2018 #3 Posted November 5, 2018 What a great find! Lucky to find a house built before 1950 where I live. Thanks for sharing this fine helmet.
doyler Posted November 5, 2018 Author #5 Posted November 5, 2018 Thanks gentlemewn. I left it as found.Never cleaned it or messed with. I did get a german belt that was tropical,a set of japanede binoculars and some manuals etc.I would have loved to be on the cleaning crew.THey said the house was full as well as an unattached two stall garage/carriage house with loft
Bugme Posted November 9, 2018 #7 Posted November 9, 2018 Wow Ron, great camo! My son does cleanouts and this is not usually what we find when doing them.
AllEras Posted February 7, 2019 #8 Posted February 7, 2019 Pretty cool Doyler. Ever make a run at researching the original owner? Or not enough info there to do so?
retread12345 Posted February 9, 2019 #10 Posted February 9, 2019 All I ever got was cat stained furniture. Good on you!
