AB45 Posted December 9, 2018 Share #1 Posted December 9, 2018 Hy Everything started in 2013. Russia? The Russian enclave Kaliningrad was the destination. To be more precise, Königsberg in East Prussia. We 10 Germans from all over Germany, dares us in Berlin. From where our 1000 km trip started. Some of us had German uniforms with us to celebrate the end of the war with the Russians on May 9th. So we drove over the old Reichsstraße 1, through Poland to the east. Poland is a beautiful country. Blooming fields, well-developed roads. The highway just before the Russian border on which we drove was new. I was curious what to expect in Russia. We were much more tense when we reached the Russian border.
AB45 Posted December 9, 2018 Author Share #2 Posted December 9, 2018 The Russian border. At the border stood only Russian and Polish cars. And we with 4 cars from Germany. Outnumber older VW Passat. I also noticed that the doors on the vehicles went by themselves. No Russian customs officer had long questions. After 1 hour we were over it. What I saw, I did not really expect No blooming fields, wild meadows in flames. Highway ??? That was the Reichsstraße 1 of 1945! Old concrete slabs! A few old blasted bridge parts, probably also from 1945. Let me shiver.
