Blackhawkdown Posted July 16, 2019 #1 Posted July 16, 2019 I got a complete Iraqi uniform from a first gulf war vet. Can anyone ID the helmet marking? I also have the pants to the uniform. It is huge, must have been a fat old guy! Does the blue beret signify a unit? Dan h
Cap Camouflage Pattern I Posted July 17, 2019 #2 Posted July 17, 2019 Some efforts have been made to decipher Iraqi equipment markings, but little to no progress has been made. I have seen at least one, possibly two other "F" in a white circle on a black background burlap helmets like this online in collections.
Blackhawkdown Posted July 21, 2019 Author #3 Posted July 21, 2019 Thanks, maybe in the future it will make more sense.
Doc_KeystoneDiv Posted February 26 #4 Posted February 26 Dan, Have you had any luck identifying this helmet marking? I also have one and despite hours of searching have had absolutely no luck finding anything definitive. The one hint I have come across is that typically unit markings were painted on the side and specialist or trade insignia was painted on the front. I would love to solve this mystery. I will make another post on here incase a newer member may have some info. Dan, Just reread the post and it occurred to me that, atleast when I was in Iraq in 08-09, the Iraqi police wore blue berets. Perhps this may be the answer we seek, I will start researching this now..
ScottG Posted March 8 #5 Posted March 8 If it is a 91 Gulf War beret the dark blue is air defense, if the eagle is gold it may be navy. Would need to see the inside of the beret. The stars on the eagle should be vertical and not horizontal. Would also like to see the inside of the helmet and any tags or markings on the shirt. Scott
