Stony Posted August 11, 2019 #1 Posted August 11, 2019 Acquired this Japanese saddle recently and was wondering what type it is. As far as I can tell the saddle is complete with a set of saddle bags. Stirrups, spurs and an extra set of bags came with it. The extra straps might be the bridle, but I'm not sure. Any help is appreciated.
tiger41 Posted August 12, 2019 #2 Posted August 12, 2019 It appears to be a standard army saddle.....I'm sure if you look closely there should be an army stamp on the leather or an ink stamp even.....either inside a flap or under another part. There is usually a stamp with a star inside a circle somewhere. I do not see a bit for the horses mouth. tiger41
Stony Posted August 12, 2019 Author #3 Posted August 12, 2019 There are stamps in a couple of places on the saddle and both set of saddle bags have a stamp on the inside. I got this saddle from the same person as the other bring backs I posted with the helmet. The saddle came with capture papers. They have more items, so I'll probably be adding to the pile soon. Thanks!
