MT247 Posted August 24, 2019 Share #1 Posted August 24, 2019 Hi all I don’t know much about anything other than US helmet so when I was given these I set out to figure out what they are. From some research, one looks NATO and one looks German but please help me out. Thanks Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Polygon Posted August 24, 2019 Share #2 Posted August 24, 2019 Left looks like a WW2 style German helmet that someone added a U.S. woodland PASGT helmet cover to along with netting and a U.S. helmet band. If you could show us the helmet itself without the cover/net/band, it'd probably tell us some more. I'm guessing it could be a refurbished WW2 German helmet or a copy of one, hence the post-war brown liner and padding at the top. The one on the right is a more modern West German army helmet (M62?) with a Flectarn cover.

Proud Kraut Posted August 24, 2019 Share #4 Posted August 24, 2019 The helmet cover of the one without net is German Bundeswehr 1990's. The helmet itself (at least the straps) not as far as I can see. Any markings on this one? Please post a picture of the straps as well.

Proud Kraut Posted August 24, 2019 Share #7 Posted August 24, 2019 Okay, second helmet could be Bundeswehr as well but definitely not the straps. Maybe another NATO nation's helmet or a put together? If you search the net for "Bundeswehr Stahlhelm" you'll find several pictures of the correct straps.

Polygon Posted August 24, 2019 Share #9 Posted August 24, 2019 This one is clearly a reproduction, an older one marked, "Hudson 1976" as indicated in the photo. It's a copy of a German M42 helmet as indicated by the flared rim. Proud Kraut Posted August 26, 2019 Share #11 Posted August 26, 2019 For comparison I'm posting two pics of the Bundeswehr I 60 type helmet with correct two-point straps (1960-1981).
