Navybean Posted September 29, 2019 Share #1 Posted September 29, 2019 I picked up this K98 Blue Tropical frog about 15 years ago from a vets grouping. I have had a number of tropical frogs before but this was the first I have had that was made of blue material verses the typical khaki/tan. Just curious if others have seen blue tropical frogs before for the K98?
Navybean Posted September 29, 2019 Author Share #2 Posted September 29, 2019 few more pictures, the frog did not have a bayonet in it when I purchased the frog.

Navybean Posted September 29, 2019 Author Share #4 Posted September 29, 2019 Frog has not been dyed blue after production as the stitching used during assembly is still white and not blue. Any German experts who might have some experience wth k98 frogs?

patches Posted September 30, 2019 Share #7 Posted September 30, 2019 The Luftwaffe made all their tropical web gear in Blue for use in Africa. Tuncs, pith helmet cloth covering, caps and shirts and pants too. But they apparently didn't make much it of these and the web gear, bread bags yes, the other stuff., it's rare, just used the Army's stuff, that's gear, the Luftwaffe had their own tropical uniforms apart from the little amount of the Blue Shirts and caps and pants, of distinctive design and shade, and these were worn alot, even latter during the course of the Italian Campaign. Here's an example of the pith helmet. (Photo From the Africa Korps Forum)

Wake1941 Posted December 24, 2019 Share #10 Posted December 24, 2019 Given the scarcity I could see it bringing $100 give or take. Maybe even more to someone looking to complete a rig
