SARGE Posted May 9, 2020 #1 Posted May 9, 2020 Gents, This is a late DDR Volkspolizei (VP) dress tunic in a distinctive lime green color. These tunics appear to have been worn by senior VP Officers as a dress uniform instead of the double breasted Gessellschaftsuniformen. This one is for a VP Colonel and has been worn. It came to me with the academy badge and ribbon bar but it is not named and there is no guarantee the badges were on it during the period of use. There are also two photos of General Officers wearing the tunic showing the difference in color from the standard police green.
SARGE Posted May 10, 2020 Author #2 Posted May 10, 2020 This tunic is shown in the first illustration of the "Uniformarten Bekleidungsordnung Von 29 November 1983" as a figure A2 worn by a General Officer. It is listed as a Service class Uniform (Dienstuniform fur besondere Anlasse) in "Tabelle 1" to be worn with long trousers and without a belt. Notice in the photographs the two General Officers are wearing this tunic with long trousers of the standard green color with wide Lampassen stripes and no belt. They both are also wearing a white shirt with a grey tie. Also notice they are wearing their ribbon bars instead of a medal rack as required when wearing the Gessellschaftsuniform. Closeup shots of the badges. Notice the paper ribbons in the ribbon bar rack.
