Help on Japanese helmet authenticity

Hey guys, I've got the chance to get this helmet and was wondering if the liner is original?  Also, can anyone tell me the purpose of the 4 holes on the top of the helmet?

Very late, original army liner. That white/blue gray color is late war tanning process. Two holes on top of helmet shell are vents

Sometimes on late Helmets they will even use different type and colored leather. My Son now has most of my collection, I believe we have one with two different types of leather used. Yours looks fine.
