1940 German Fur Pack "Affe"

As stated, it is German, the markings are from the issuance depot and is an acceptance stamp, 9 (Sept) 40 (1940) Fu (Furth), these types of markings are seen on a variety of items, Nice pickup !

Maker is Marquardt in Heilbronn, Germany. These haversacks (Tornister) were called "Affe" (monkey) by the troops. Daskrieg is correct with rank and last name (Hoefert). If you are posting a photo of the writing w/o flashlight we can perhaps decipher his first name.

You´re welcome. His name is not too uncommon over here. This site lists a Gefreiter Robert Höfert from Kuehlsheim, fallen in Russia in September 1941.
