Masonk Posted January 12, 2022 Share #1 Posted January 12, 2022 Hi All, I'm helping an acquaintance sell this French Lebel 1886 Bayonet. I read through a post on another forum that outline the various changes the bayo went through (1915, 1935). Was looking for help with identifying which version this bayonet would conform to. Total w/scabbard - 25.75", 654mm Total wo/scabbard - 21.25", 540mm Blade - 16.5", 419mm Scabbard - 21", 533mm In 1935, the blade was shortened to 400mm, and the scabbard was shortened to match. The example below is about 3/4" (19mm) longer, and the scabbard is the original length. Bayonet and scabbard have matching serial #'s. Curious what the proper name for this version is, if any? Thanks in advance for any feedback!
Gwar Posted January 12, 2022 Share #2 Posted January 12, 2022 If you Google, there is a site dedicated to these types, I have one in poor condition and found some great reference material..
