Many Flak Soldiers were awarded the badge by virtue of participating in a ground role on all fronts, mostly in the anti tank role. Here's two more

patches Posted November 10, 2023 Author #10 Posted November 10, 2023 In Afrika, a man of an 88mm Crew, they're standing beside their Big Haftrack that towed the cannon, the Sd.Kfz.8. This is sometime in 1941 before the specifically made Luftwaffe Tropical Uniforms get sent there with Luftwaffe personnel wearing the Army's Tropical stuff.
patches Posted December 16, 2023 Author #13 Posted December 16, 2023 An HJ Recipient of the Flak, his Rank is that of Rottenführer by virtue of the single Tresse at base of Shoulder Strap.
patches Posted May 4, 2024 Author #16 Posted May 4, 2024 Here's a curious one, General der Flieger Ludwig Wofff wearing the badge, not seeing where he could of been awarded it as he never was in a Flak unit, he was since before the war till the end of the war, commander of Luftgau XI, first in Hannover then in Hamburg when Lufgau X in Hamburg is disbanded and Luftgau XI takes over. Would this be a case of him wearing it because of the great successes Flak units assigned within his Gau, as he is the overall commander????
SARGE Posted May 4, 2024 #17 Posted May 4, 2024 An interesting question concerning the flak badge. I can't make out the neck order but I see he is also wearing the Turkish Iron Halbmond on his right breast pocket.
easterneagle87 Posted May 5, 2024 #18 Posted May 5, 2024 Is the neck order, The Knights Cross of the War Merit Cross with swords?

patches Posted May 28, 2024 Author #21 Posted May 28, 2024 Another Flak Mann from a unit inside Germany. It seems the men in those Flak units inside Germany, in the cities, stationed in sensitive areas. like Dams, important bridges in the countryside etc etc, stationed in occupied countries that were not the seat of ground action, i.e. Denmark, Norway etc, they did not get awarded the Ground Combat Badges.
patches Posted August 7, 2024 Author #23 Posted August 7, 2024 Another HJ Flak Crewman, here an Oberkameradschaftsführer.
