German Africa Campaign Victory medal, is it a good one?

Picked this up over the weekend for next to nothing as part of a sizable lot of theater made U.S. Army insignia.

It’s got some heft to it, so If I had to guess it’s made of zinc?
 

If it’s junk, I’m not out much- just would like to know.

 

Would really appreciate any information, good or bad.

It looks like a poor casting to me.  These awards are not very well finished when original but this one is particularly roughly finished IMHO.

A part of that I think is the lighting, but I would agree the casting isn’t really that great.  For a buck I’m not out much!
 

Any idea when/where this would’ve been made?  I’ve found a few reproductions online but most seem be made in the brass (or copper?) style.

Perhaps one of the medal guys will jump in here but it looks like a pot metal casting to me.  I presume a magnet will not stick on it.
