KevinBeyer Posted June 9, 2022 Share #1 Posted June 9, 2022 This order was created by King Leopold II on December 30, 1888, and incorporated in the Belgian awards system on October 10, 1908. This Order’s purpose is to recognize the services rendered to the Belgian colony of the Congo and to the greater cause of African civilization. It was not necessary for the recipient to have actually spent any time in Africa. Services rendered could have been performed elsewhere.
