SARGE Posted July 11, 2022 #4 Posted July 11, 2022 A very nice S98/05 sawback bayonet. Made by Gottlieb Hammesfahr in Solingen for the Prussians in 1916.

Thank you Sarge for the proper ID and positive comment. Where Is Gottlieb on the spectrum of scarcity ? Thank you for the feedback and here is your reward.
SARGE Posted July 12, 2022 #6 Posted July 12, 2022 Sorry, but I don't have a rank list for the S98/05 showing scarcity but not an uncommon maker. Your bayonet is a nice unaltered example that was originally finished bright though.
Preppy Picker Posted July 13, 2022 Author #7 Posted July 13, 2022 Thank you Sarge, I guess I should have asked if it was common or not. I couldn’t find any by this maker but one in worse condition without the scabbard for what seams to be a very high price. Here is the mark on the scabbard.
ww1czechlegion Posted August 5, 2022 #8 Posted August 5, 2022 A very nice find, congratulations! Best Wishes, Alan
