I have collected military edged weapons for about 3 years. Mainly US WW1 and 2. I recently purchased this boot knife. I know that there a ton of fakes and I am having issues reading the markings. Is this real or fake?

Looks heavily sand blasted, D.R.G.M. =Deutsches Reich Gebrauchsmuster (German: German Reich Registered Design), D.R.G.M., or sometimes DRGM, is not a German patent, it was instead a way for inventors to register a product’s design or function in all states within Germany. The grip may be a replacement or modification of a bayonet.
