Brig Posted September 5, 2022 Share #1 Posted September 5, 2022 Picked this up a couple years ago...had a military feel to it, but also kind of seems similar to the coat of arms of Åland in Finland. Of course, it wouldn't be the first time a European unit used a coat of arms in their unit symbol. Any ideas?
Proud Kraut Posted September 5, 2022 Share #2 Posted September 5, 2022 Of course I could be wrong but it does not look like any other Finish military insignia I have seen before so my guess would be a civilian brooch, indeed with the coat of arms of Aland. BTW referring to the silver hallmark (913H) your insignia was made in Turku, Finland.
Tonomachi Posted September 5, 2022 Share #3 Posted September 5, 2022 The closet coat of arms that isn't exact but similar is the Samara Province of Russia.
Brig Posted September 5, 2022 Author Share #4 Posted September 5, 2022 Apparently it is the coat of arms of Åland. Matts Simon was a firm in the region and the marks date this to the 1930s
