Picked this up a couple years ago...had a military feel to it, but also kind of seems similar to the coat of arms of Åland in Finland. Of course, it wouldn't be the first time a European unit used a coat of arms in their unit symbol. Any ideas?

Of course I could be wrong but it does not look like any other Finish military insignia I have seen before so my guess would be a civilian brooch, indeed with the coat of arms of Aland. BTW referring to the silver hallmark (913H) your insignia was made in Turku, Finland.

The closet coat of arms that isn't exact but similar is the Samara Province of Russia.

Apparently it is the coat of arms of Åland. Matts Simon was a firm in the region and the marks date this to the 1930s
