I believe that the unit's home station is the name at the bottom of the oval insignia. The metal badge is quite small and marked on the back: IS SPOR -which I believe is a makers mark. I also believe it to be a lapel pin worn by members of the Air Rescue Team. Flugbjörgunarsveitin translated from Icelandic means Air Rescue Team. FBS must be an abbreviation of Flugbjörgunarsveitin. These badges were obtained in 1983 so if anyone has more current information about the status of this unit or other insignia to share, please let us know.
