Japanese officer dress sword question

LE LOUP DES MERS

The dress swords issued to officers in WW2, were they ever reproduced? I have never seen a reproduction dress sword before and in my opinion there is no need to reproduce one. I ask this question because I saw one at a pawn shop for $49 however, I was told it's an older reproduction dress sword. As I got home I compared the one I saw at the pawn shop to originals that sold online but they look identical. I also tried looking up online if they do reproduce dress swords but I found nothing. So, I was wondering if you guys could help me, I haven't bought the one I saw at the pawn shop yet so I don't got any photos for you.

Yes, Japanese swords are often reproduced.  They have been put together postwar since 1945 and have fooled many collectors.  Be careful.
