LE LOUP DES MERS Posted October 10, 2022 Share #1 Posted October 10, 2022 The dress swords issued to officers in WW2, were they ever reproduced? I have never seen a reproduction dress sword before and in my opinion there is no need to reproduce one. I ask this question because I saw one at a pawn shop for $49 however, I was told it's an older reproduction dress sword. As I got home I compared the one I saw at the pawn shop to originals that sold online but they look identical. I also tried looking up online if they do reproduce dress swords but I found nothing. So, I was wondering if you guys could help me, I haven't bought the one I saw at the pawn shop yet so I don't got any photos for you.
SARGE Posted October 10, 2022 Share #2 Posted October 10, 2022 Yes, Japanese swords are often reproduced. They have been put together postwar since 1945 and have fooled many collectors. Be careful.
LE LOUP DES MERS Posted October 10, 2022 Author Share #3 Posted October 10, 2022 Ok thanks I guess I'll be avoiding the one I saw then. I had no idea that fakes actually existed.
