Hi all,

This is my first post and its all about if any knows anything about the collect-ability of the Dumaresq Mark VIII the mechanical analog fire control instrument .

The best information comes from the web site http://dreadnoughtproject.org/tfs/index.php/Dumaresq.

I have found this in my deceased father collection of odds and ends.

Its in an original looking wooden box that looks like it was made for transporting it. Ive attached a photo with a ping pong ball used for scale.

Its in good condition, no rust just dirty.

I want to sell it or donate it to a museum.

What is something like this worth?

Is it unusual or rare or just un-noteworthy.

Any assistance is appreciated

Thanks,

Russell in Brisbane,Australia.

The Mark VIII was mainly used in the Second World War and a little later. Australian destroyers are known to have used them, especially the tribal class ships HMAS Arunta, Bataan and Warramunga.

Here is one on the Belfast.
