earlymb Posted December 3, 2022 Share #1 Posted December 3, 2022 I just received this nice item, a pin insignia of the 2e Régiment étranger de parachutistes. Made by Drago of Paris and I guess in the mid-to-late 1950's so it might be original Indochina. The seller had no idea what it was so the price was VERY friendly Anyone have an idea if my period-estimate is correct? The 'blue' in the shield is actually a pale moss-green
Tonomachi Posted December 4, 2022 Share #2 Posted December 4, 2022 Based on my reference the combination of official approval number (H1948), perpendicular striping and DRAGO PARIS this dates this badge between 1952 through 1960. However I would put this combination closer to 1960 that the 1950s. My guess is that this piece was worn during the Algerian War instead of the Indochina War. earlymb Posted December 4, 2022 Author Share #3 Posted December 4, 2022 Thanks, I think you are right with the date, which makes it Algeria-period indeed.
