ussjfkcv67 Posted January 14, 2023 Share #1 Posted January 14, 2023 Here is a uniform and display case of material that belonged to LT Col. Heinz Behnke, who was a Knights Cross recipient during WWII. He was awarded it for action against the Russians on October 30, 1943 with the 370th Infantry Division. It was awarded to him in January of 1944. Served in the Bundeswehr from 1956-1979. It was passed on to me by a friend some years ago and he got it directly from the veteran. It includes two signed photos, one from WWII and one from his later service.
SARGE Posted January 14, 2023 Share #2 Posted January 14, 2023 A very nice grouping! I particularly like that the '57er ribbon bar is directly sewn on the tunic. Congratulations.

The Colonel´s (Oberst) uniform has crimson red collar insignia (general staff) and a Ministry of Defence shoulder patch. Thanks very much for sharing! Brig Posted January 15, 2023 Share #5 Posted January 15, 2023 Interesting that he had no war badge, or chose not to wear it on his ribbon bar
