SARGE Posted January 21 Share #5 Posted January 21 Thank you. Very interesting construction on this one and the loop on the one below it.
ww1czechlegion Posted January 22 Share #6 Posted January 22 The 2nd buckle has the wrong color crown on it. The crown should be neusilber color or "nickel silver" color to match the buckle box/frame. Someone placed a wrong color Hessen crown on this buckle. This is the 3rd or 4th time that I have seen this anomaly mistake, in viewing this buckle posted here. The 115th Lieb Garde Infantry wore an all nickel silver buckle. Yes, it is a private purchase style buckle, and unfortunately has the wrong color Hessen crown on it. As a side note: on these neusilber buckles, I normally see the "U" shaped catch in a brass color. And the roller pin and the two claw pins would normally be seen in brass color also. I'll post a photo of a normal issue 1-piece Hessian buckle. Best Wishes, Alan This is the way we normally see the Issued 1-piece buckle for the Hessen or Hessian 115th Lieb Garde Infantry Regiment.
