Japanese Medical Bag

I was at the History Center of Olmsted County in southern Minnesota last fall. In the WW2 section this medical bag and items were on display in a glass case.
It's described as an M2 first aid jungle kit issued to Marine medics. I didn't know it was Japanese at the time, but thought it looked a little odd to be a Marine item.

It was probably donated and nobody knew what it really was.
