mds308 Posted July 12, 2023 Share #1 Posted July 12, 2023 I could use some help deciphering this fob. I'm guessing it was presented to a soldier by a unit or other soldier. Thank you in advance for your assistance.

I attach another French 'chatelaine' and a German version to highlight the different national colours. kind regards Gunner ...
mds308 Posted July 12, 2023 Author Share #3 Posted July 12, 2023 Thank you Gunner87. So this is French and NOT German? Colors look the same to me other than their order. My blue is lighter in shade. Thanks.

The colours and design depended on the fraternity they belonged to. It appears the metal is silver. My apologies for misleading you. Gunner... Proud Kraut Posted July 13, 2023 Share #5 Posted July 13, 2023 Gunner is spot-on, a Bierzipfel. The 3 letters on the front are called "Zirkel" (circle). They are representing the student society or a Latin saying. FCV was a very popular Zirkel, could be for "Floriat, Crescat, Vivat" or something like this. mds308 Posted July 13, 2023 Author Share #6 Posted July 13, 2023 Thanks for all the help. It is stamped .800 which was a common silver grade used in Germany. Who would have received this? Jooss or Link?
